I thought part 1 of this series could not be surpassed, but this apart 2 has done it, with just great selections from each of the selected films.I particularly like the Notre Dame piece which I have played many times now, and closing my eyes, the music is so much like the “James Horner sound”. I think Simon Franglen has done an amazing job with this score and Avatar, the way of water, and I look forward to hearing what he comes up with in the future, kind regards, David in the U.K.

Hi David. Thanks for your comment. Before he began working on Avatar: The Way of Water, Simon Franglen had a lot of detractors. I’m so happy he had the chance to refine his skills with OUTSTANDING scores for films like The Curse of Turandot and Notre Dame Brule. Those two projects really showcased his talent and the influence James Horner had on him. The strategy Franglen uses is similar to Horner’s. While melody is crucial, Horner’s work relied heavily on the proper orchestral colours to elicit the right emotions for any given film. In my opinion, Franglen has brilliantly adopted that strategy in his music, particularly in Avatar.

Thanks for listening and I look forward to more of your comment!

      Cheers!
