RE-RECORDINGS | #13 FRONTIERS

Our lucky number 13 re-recording of all time is Jerry Goldsmith’s science-fiction compilation album FRONTIERS (1997) featuring music from LOGAN’S RUN, THE ILLUSTRATED MAN, DAMNATION ALLEY, STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE and more. The music was performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra conducted by the composer. The album was produced for Varese Sarabande Records by Robert Townson.

Goldsmith is my favorite film composer and I have to say that the selections from this album were really impressive. That version of “The Enterprise” was really amazing. And I love the original! The two pieces from “Logan’s Run” were also well done. I adore that score, especially the innovative electronic work (which rubs many film score fans the wrong way). From the samples you played, I think I may have to seek this out as well.

Thanks for the comment. It also makes me happy to see that I can help a fellow film music fan find joy in an album they have never heard before. I hope you enjoy the album for many years to come!
