A TRIBUTE TO ERIC TOMLINSON (1931-2015)

On November 24th (I incorrectly say November 26th on the show), legendary film music recording engineer, Eric Tomlinson, passed away at the age of 84. Tomlinson worked with the likes of John Barry, Henry Mancini, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Michael Kamen and John Williams on such films as FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, LIFEFORCE, OUTLAND, BRAINSTORM, HIGHLANDER and the STAR WARS TRILOGY… just to name a few.

On today’s program, we are going to play for you over 2 hours of music recorded by Eric Tomlinson featuring over 25 scores including LION IN THE DESERT, THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY, ALIENS, BATMAN, and more.

And when you are done with the show I highly recommend you check out two brilliant articles written by Eric Tomlinson expert and audio engineer, Chris Malone.

The first article is an in-depth profile on Eric Tomlinson himself.  Click HERE to read it.

The second article chronicles the recording of the Star Wars saga including the recording of the original Star Wars trilogy.  Click HERE to read it.

Eric was a true professional in every thing he did. A good friend of Mine Jack Clegg worked with him back in the swinging 60’s at CTS bayswater and has countless stories to tell!. It is worth mentioning Eric helped save countless film score from destruction, many of which we all own today. R.I.P Eric in Tonmeister heaven!
