TOP 10 FAVOURITE WESTERN TRACKS OF ALL TIME

Welcome back to the CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO TOP 10. On the program today, I’m going to play for you my ten favourite western tracks of all time and four honourable mentions.  This show idea was suggested to me by fellow IFMCA member, Asier G. Senarriaga. You’ll hear selections from composers Bruce, Broughton, James Newton Howard, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Dimitri Tiomkin, Ennio Morricone, Elmer Bernstein, Alfred Newman, and more.

You’ll also hear a suite of music from James Horner’s score to the 2016 remake of THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN and a suite of Western music composed by Ennio Morricone.

Let me know what you thought about my selections. Please feel free to leave a comment or two in the comment section below. And if you have a suggestion for our next Top 10 program, then please email me or make a suggestion via Twitter or Facebook.

And if you listen to this program via iTunes please take a few moments to leave us a rating and some feedback.

    Hi Eric!
Great show with many tracks that are on my Topp list too.

I have heard a lot of your shows and I know, that you like big orchestral music and good bold adventure scores with big orchestral sound and good themes.
I live in germany and this spring we have a good movie to one of our most famous chil-adventure-fantasy books from author MICHAEL ENDE, who also wrote “The neverending story”. That boob was released as a movie in 1984 with good music from Klaus Doldinger.
This year in german cinemas startet the movie “JIM KNOPF und LUKAS der Lokomotivführer”. This is the most expansive movie ever made in germany! A big fantasy family adventure. The music is bold and nice. The composer, not unknown in germany, is RALF WENGENMAYR. His score to Jim Knopf has many highlights.
In 2009 and 2011 he alredy deliverd the german public with big orchestral music to the two big Wickie movies (2009: Wickie und die straken Männer, 2011: Wickie auf großer Fahrt). Some germans says, that Ralf Wengenmayr is our John Williams. And Ralf Wengenmayr knows and likes Johns music. The influence of John Williams boöd orchestral sound you can hear in Ralf Wengenmayrs scores. Here is a link to a german live concert tribute to Ralf Wengenmayrs music. In minute 34 strats the suite to Wickie.
Check it out and check Ralf Wengemayrs most recent music for the most expansive german movie “JIM KNOPF” (2018) to the classic book from Micheal Ende (the book was released in 1960 !).

This show have also good live performances from John Williams Star Wars Suite and E.T.. Bully Herbig is comedian, actor and producer. He worked often with composer Ralf Wengenmayr for big succsesful german comedy movies (Raumschiff [= starship] Surprise – That movie is a star trek and star wars gag version!).
    André from germany!
