THE 1UPBEAT: REMEMBERING KOICHI SUGIYAMA, HIS LIFE AND CAREER – PART TWO

Today, on a very special episode of THE 1UPBEAT, we remember the legendary game composer Koichi Sugiyama, the grandfather of game music. Following his death at age 90 in 2021, Eric Silver will take you through a comprehensive look at his career starting in the late 50s, through the 80s as a composer for a game music career, and finally to the end of the 2010s.

In part two of this four-part series, Koichi Sugiyama sends a postcard with feedback and his life changes forever. You’ll hear music from the beginning of Sugiyama’s game music career, covering the second half of the 80s into the very beginning of the 90s.

Enjoy!
